October Haul: BeautyMNL and Stylegenie
Hi G,
I can't believe that I'm writing a beauty haul review. I mean, it's so not me, no? Anyway, this has been a shitty week with the car getting towed last Monday therefore severing the newly existing relationship between me and Met. So, goodbye to that and hello again to countless months of no talking.
Enough about that, at least these two packages that got delivered this week made up for the hell that went by. First up: BeautyMNL.
I ordered this last week, and was supposed to be delivered on Friday (hey, they said 'if you order today, expect next day delivery'), but I guess they have tons of orders that's why the delivery guy forgot about it? When I arrived home last Friday, the delivery guy called me, but I said, "kuya, you can deliver it on Monday."
So Monday came and its already past 1 PM, but still no package arrived in the office. Jen, my officemate, said that they usually arrive this time (she's an avid fan of the site, btw), that's why I was kinda losing it when, at 3PM, there's still no one in the office front door yet. :-( But alas, before 4PM, he came! Huhu...you just don't know how relieved I am to see him. But, when the package arrived, I had to contain and promise myself that I will only open it when my package from Stylegenie arrives (para maging uber happy ako after a shitty week).
And thank god my Stylegenie arrived on Wednesday so yey, perfect timing to end this horrendous week! From BeautyMNL, I ordered a facial foam, toner and serum. All three contain tea tree oil extract because I read somewhere that it's best for oily-combination face. My face is oily so I'm really excited to try this.

This is how their package look like, unless of course you order a lot. As you can see, I paid Php 1,603.00 for three items so I should really use it then. In case you're not aware G, I very seldom finish a bottle of beauty product because if I see something cute in Watson's, I buy it instantly. But this time, I must commit to this regimen because this is the most that I paid for for beauty products.
Tada! Here's the facial wash/foam. I didn't know that Dewy Tree is a Korean brand. I guess I did not read the fine print in their site, so to be honest, I am doubtful about these products because my face is so far from Koreans! I wonder if this will work on me. Also, I was surprised to see how big it is- 170 ml and the best part is, it's triple secured because except from the cap, it has 2 more layers of protection to ensure that it will not spill during delivery. Very nice! So much value for my money talaga, It smells so nice too, even if I don't have an idea how tea tree should smell. The smell reminds me of cotton and bamboo and OMG, this is so mild to the face when I started using it. I love it!
I think I ordered the wrong products because look at this toner, the packaging is so different from the facial foam. I think the latter is from another line? But nonetheless, I think it's working its magic. I used this already twice a day and I think the combination with the facial foam is effective because the day after I started using this, Jen, my office mate told me that there's something about my face, like its powdery and less shiny. So yay! I think I made the right decision.
According to the packaging, you have to use it every after toner, but I digress. I've never tried a serum before so I do not have expectations for this, but according to the site, it should tighten my pores and give me that matte look after application. I am surprised by this serum because a few seconds after applying, my face feels powdery, which is good, I guess?
My package came with 2 freebies. This is the first one. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm sure its gonna be awesome.
This is the 2nd freebie. I haven't used it yet, but I am assuming that its going to make my hair blacker?
Here they are: my loot worth Php 1,603.00 including the delivery fee. I was actually torn if I should add more to my cart because they deliver free if I accumulated more than 2K pesos, but hell, delivery charge is only 50 within Metro Manila so I checked out before I go crazy. This is the most that I've splurged for any skin care product so I am keeping my fingers crossed on these.
Here's the facial foam. I so love the smell! Its something new to my senses. :-)
Here's the toner. The white residue at the bottom is normal. I think its the one that give my face a matte finish.
Here's the serum. I only use it every other day because it is kinda expensive.
A family picture of my BeautyMNL loot. So far, I am satisfied.
Two days after my BeautyMNL loot arrived, here comes Stylegenie. I am impressed ha because according to their site, they deliver within 3-5 days in Metro Manila and they are true to their word. This magical box arrived on Wednesday afternoon strapped in bubble wrap. My co-workers freaked out when we saw the delivery guy. Right there in the office, I unboxed this baby (I even have a video, but I don't know how to upload it here). I had to carry it all the way home but deep in my heart, I am so happy with this purchase.
And in case you're wondering what Stylegenie is, it's the first clothes subscription service in the country. Think ipsy, but with clothes. Their website have a style profile quiz from which their stylists will base the clothes that they will send you. I got me the basic box, but they have a premium box where they will send you up to five clothes. It's so fun answering their style quiz I swear!

Here's what's inside: 2 pieces of clothing: a very challenging romper, a blouse, 1 yoga pass, perfume (freebies) and note from Ken Batino, their stylist for the month. I think this is very sweet. :-) For all these, I only shelled out 200 pesos but mind you, the original price is Php 899. I had a 500 peso coupon because I won during their Instagram contest. So yay! On a side note, I am not really ready to shell out Php 899 for 2 clothes. I'm a cheapskate like that.
Thank you Stylegenie for granting my #flatlay goals. Haha.. So here they are. Not the bestest photo, but I am happy with my box. I will most definitely try this again in the future and maybe try other styles. And oh, if you're wondering how the clothes look when worn, I think that will be my next post. :-)
Lessons learned for this post:
1. Brown is not a good background color, especially if it's on the floor.

2. Damn, it's hard to shoot products!
3. It's hard to shoot in low light especially if you're only using an old school Iphone. So hey stranger, sorry for the bad quality of photos...only if you've managed to read through here.
