February Restaurants
OMG! This post is too late! It's already mid-March and I'm still looking for words to fill this post. But, let's do this so that I can cross off something in my list. By the way G, I decided to just write about the restaurants that I haven't tried before because we both know what Mcdo or KFC tastes like, right?
OMG. Realization moment: I haven't eaten at a new restaurant since the first day of the month. Am I getting too boring or just plain busy?
Anyways, let's start this already, okay? I think my memory shall serve me good if I back track from the first resto I ate at.
OMG. Realization moment: I haven't eaten at a new restaurant since the first day of the month. Am I getting too boring or just plain busy?
Anyways, let's start this already, okay? I think my memory shall serve me good if I back track from the first resto I ate at.
This is at Cafe Elements. It's the signature restaurant of Brentwood Suites (a hotel) in Quezon City. Ate was booked there for 2 days and she asked if I can go to her and have dinner. Quezon City is another planet for me, but thank god I did not have a hard time looking for the hotel (well, if Fisher Mall is the landmark, who would get lost?).
Anyways, enough about that. Let's talk food. For dinner, I had everything on the buffet. I don't understand, though, why they had a very limited buffet selection. I had the chicken curry which is very good. I've never tasted anything like it. It's creamy, but just with the right hint of spice. I think you're going to like it, G. Suffice to say, it's pretty much the highlight of dinner because the rest, well, I forgot the taste. The molo soup, though, was a little salty for my taste.
After dinner, Ate and I hung out in her suite. I did not return the next day because she's the one who came to Makati because her flight was on Saturday morning. Before her flight, we watched Jupiter Ascending in Resorts World with Met. Ate has never been to that place.
So, it's Saturday the next day and it only means one thing: classes. After class, Eve and I decided to eat in Max's in Cubao and this is what I ordered. This may seem ordinary, but what's not is that I didn't shell out a single cent for this because I paid it using my Globe reward points. Who knew that it could be useful, too, eh?
Lomi and tokwa't baboy are the perfect combination, don't you think?
On Sunday, Met decided that we should go to Solaire because she wants to try their casino and man, they did not disappoint. Met said that it was so much better than the ones in Las Vegas. We also ate at their food court since their restaurants are pretty expensive.
There's nothing special with their food, especially my order. The chicken is not something to rave about and the ketchup was messy. I wish they just put it on the side. Met's kimchi rice is good, but I bet that I can re-create it at home. Both costs Php 250.00 and for this price, the serving is big, but the taste is blah.
It's the first time that I ate chocolate pudding and I was really expecting a lot from this one, but it fell flat on my expectations radar. But I don't blame the food court because we ate it when it was almost cold (puddings are best eaten hot) and there was no vanilla ice cream on top. I bet that there are more delectable puddings in Manila.
This is my first-ever gotong Batangas and I was surprised that it looked like papaitan, but tastes so different. It was not bitter at all, but lemony. Me and my Sargo friends decided to eat at Japong's in Batangas because according to Russell, it's the best; and I couldn't agree more with him.
You eat this piping hot, with rice, and lots of condiments like red onion, sili, kalamansi, and patis. This is good G, especially on a cold or rainy day (when we went to Batangas, it was cold so this was perfect!) I think that we should try this G.

Legit kapeng barako is so much better than 3-in-1 as in! There are no words to express this combination made in heaven.
The famous Shawarma Plate at Mister Kebab's in West Avenue. I had this when I had a lunch meeting with our project supervisor. I didn't get to enjoy this because ang gagwapo ng mga kameeting namin. I just ate half of this, but G, I think you will like it here. They have a lot of Indian and Middle East cuisine. I think we should try this again in September.
Both are my breakfast servings at Milli's in Microtel in UP Technohub. Ate was once again in town and of course, our breakfast tradition continues.
I wasn't so happy with my 1st plate (the first one on top) because almost 80% of their selection was fried so it was hell greasy. But I like the sausage the most--it's garlicky and salty--just the way I like it.
On my second breakfast at the hotel, the choices are much better, but the peas are so out of place! I didn't like their sausage this time because it was a little sweet. What I love about this restaurant is that they have granola, which is not common for most of the hotels that I stayed with Ate. I really enjoyed that one.
Insert #corysolosaturdates here. Since Met was in Cebu during this time, I ate at Pho Boa in Gateway because I wanted to date myself. I think I made the wrong decision of ordering the chicken (damn you, Michelle Phan! I only wanted chicken because it's your favorite), but my taste buds tell me that the beef is so much better; but I did not order it. All in all, this was still a good date night.
Finally tried Crazy Katsu in Maginhawa. I heard a lot of reviews about this place, but sadly, I did not eat katsudon when me and Ate ate here (stupid, I know!). Instead, I ordered chicken salad which was so yummy! I realized that if their salad was this good, maybe the main course tastes good, too. But we have to see about that in the future. I also tasted their Japanese curry which was swimming in sauce. I don't get Japanese curry, really, because the sauce are all over the place. I hate it when that happens! I didn't even taste the curry in the sauce. All in all, the only good thing about this is the chicken salad, but I'm willing to give it another try.
Bad Bird
Posporo
Before Arah flew in during the last weekend of February, Met and I decided to eat dinner in Hole in the Wall in Century City Mall aka our favorite-not-so-secret-food-court in Manila. I ordered the much raved about Bad Bird umami chicken. I have no idea what umami chicken is, but it's good. The servings are so huge and the condiments and sauces that come with it are really well thought out.
Met's choice was at a Filipino stall called Posporo. I think she ordered adobo flakes. This also came with different sauces which is really nice. I liked my salad best and the aioli sauce. Overall, these are great flavors that I'm excited for you to try, G!
After looking at the prices, it's confirmed G, this is the most expensive food court in Manila (Php 350 average), but I have to try yet City of Dreams.
Lunch at Pepper Steak
Nothing special, really. The cheese is not gooey and the nachos are so generic. I do not recommend this restaurant at all.
Bangus in MOA with Arah and Kaye
Arah is here already and we concluded that she misses Filipino food so we went to Bangus. It's the first time that I tried to eat rellenong manok, and I tell you G, stick to rellenong bangus. Their sinigang is good (approve ni Arah) and the chopsuey tastes good as well. After this, we went to Draft in The Fort just to chill out. Oh men, I miss Arah and Kaye. Two of my bestest friends!
So here it goes, the restaurants that I tried last month. I can't believe it took me forever to upload this this; and I'm eyeing to upload one more within the week about my weekend with Met. I'm crossing my fingers that I can do it within the week.
